1st Northbridge is scouting for new Leaders
With growing interest among local young people in joining 1st Northbridge Scout Group comes a need for new volunteer Leaders. It could be you!
Being a Cub or Scout Leader is a rewarding, fun-filled way to spend time with young people. You’ll make a direct, positive impact on the local community, helping to provide challenging, adventurous, achievement-oriented, teamwork and leadership-based experiences for members.
Leaders undertake free and comprehensive training, learning everything from the basics of Scouting, to leadership skills, safety and program planning. You could even receive national accreditation via a Certificate III, IV or Diploma.
As an entirely volunteer-run organisation, 1st Northbridge ensures responsibilities are shared among Leaders so that the expectations on individuals are never onerous. Commitments may include holding group meetings during term time, attending weekend camps and participating in monthly leader meetings.
Longstanding 1st Northbridge Leader Melanie Stray says the perks of leadership include making new friends, staying fit, travelling, and learning new skills – especially those on the water. “It’s a hugely rewarding experience watching young people gain confidence through scouting – and Leadership is a fantastic way to stay active and engaged in the community."
